Hunting bowfin in the backwater.....here's one just hanging below the surface....we get 'em with spinnerbaits or dead perch as bait (the bait method catches the bigger ones.)

8.99 29 1/4" bowfin weighed in (alive, of course) and released....we missed his MUCH bigger brother who probably went well over 12 pounds after having him in the net twice......they are NUTS when they see the boat/net......just nuts.

Just a shade under four pounds, this was the biggest smallie I couild come up at Champlain this year....Shaun and I probably caught at least 50 smallmouth (probably more) with keepers from 2.8 to 3.9 pounds.
