I am not familiar with the Housy at all, are there any decent spots to fish from land? I'm thinking of taking a trip up there next weekend. _________________ Yankees Suck!

I don't know to be honest... Not familiar with that part of the state at all. I would just like to get into some of those smallies and pike. Any suggestions? _________________ Yankees Suck!

Hey,
The Northern end of the hous up into Mass is Marc and my home turf, there's really some great spots for smallies from bulls bridge north. There are slower spots too that the pike just love.
Route 7 is the key for the river. Starting just south of bulls bridge, you can park at the N.U. pull off and walk around the canal for the hydro plant, tons of smallies in there and if you're interested in carp, there are huge ones in there too.
Further North, when you hit kent make a left onto Bog Hollow Rd (At the only traffic light in town). Go across the bridge and make the first right, stay to the right and you'll end up on a dirt road... ANYWHERE along there is great for smallies and Pike.
Further North is cornwall, from the cornwall bridge (Rt 4 and 7) up to clarke outdoors (its on the left) is fly fishing only, avoid that.
Take a right off route 7 and go through the covered bridge.
If you make a left as soon as you get out of the bridge there's a great pool there for smallies, its big, but its closed right now because of the stream outgoing. It opens again at the end of august or sept. I think.
If you make a right as soon as you get out of the bridge you can drive down that road and make a right into another N.U. Parking lot. From there you can walk the bank a little ways. Tons of nice smallies in there, and this time of year they love little topwater lures.
Further North 7 meets 112, take a left onto 112 and then a right onto the first road (can't remember the name) its in lime rock. This road follows the river. When the water gets low enough you can walk down the bank and just walk in the river. Alright Smallies (big numbers, small size) and 1 or two pike, but it is beautiful there.
Continue up the road and you'll hit the Amesville Bridge. There's a pulloff there and you can fish up and down the bank if you don't mind some rock scrambling. In august, the smallies love it down there because the water is always moving.
Go up the road further and you'll be at the dam, it's hard to fish from shore but there are great smallies and pike in there.
The really good pike spots are the slows above the Bulls Bridge Dam and on up into Mass. If you're going that far PM me!
I hope this helps and you find some great fishing. It gets packed on the weekends, but if you show up during the week you're almost guaranteed to have the place to yourself. If you see a silver subaru that's me, stop by and say hello! _________________ Golf Bravo Romeo - Where there's always a crosswind, but nobody will tell you. |
