7/31 Lower Bolton Lake
Message:
Lower Bolton lake is close to me so I go there often. It is a beautiful lake with plenty of bass, pickerel, and perch, though there are seldom large ones (or I'm not good at catching large ones).
Thought today would be good, cloudy with a little freeze, perfect for buzzbait, so I went out to try some good luck.
Not long before my first fish, at a tip point.

Another small one came near a dock.

Then it was getting dark, and I went to the cove with incoming water from Middle Bolton Lake, got the biggest fish today, a 16 inch 2 pounder.

Just after sunset, I landed the fourth, small though.

It was a good day, but didn't end well. I haven't done any night fishing when it's totally dark, so I wanted to try tonight. I found it was totally different when you can not see through your eyes. You have to count on your other senses. I know buzzbait is good at night, and it proved so with a good fish hooked. I could feel it is bigger than the 2 pounder I landed but it shook off when 3 feet from my kayak. What is amazing about night fishing is if you lose a fish, you can only imagine what it is. I was a little frustrated then, and got a backlash when casting...I fell it is much harder to cast a baitcasting reel in the dark, another lesson.
To conclude the day, night fishing is exciting, but it is not as easy as I thought.
