Weekapaug breachway Rhode Island 8/4, 8/5
Message:
spent a couple days at a friends cottage in Weekapaug, RI. The backyard is his dock and the breachway. At night the blues were sawing through the thickest schools of silversides, spearing? i have seen in a while... they were so full they weren't hitting lures. It was fun to watch them anyways. A bunch of short fluke stacked up in the channel. It was fun to watch how they follow and stalk and hit a rig. We fished during the day within a mile radius of the breachway catching some keeper fluke and a bunch of good sized blues. We didn't have time to target stripers but i would imagine they are hunting down the squid that were cruising through the breachway as well as the eels that pick up the scraps of the nightly bluefish massacres.

Sounds like the perfect spot for a cottage.

hey man they were probably a mixture of bay anchovies and spearing as i was just down in charlestown wackin the bass and thats what they were gorging on in the back ponds and breechways if u were persistent they would hit small metals and bucktails with teaser flies feet above the lures....
