Trophy Catch on the Pequonnock 8/13 New PB
Message:
After only 1 fish on and no other hits at the private lake, I headed down to the upper part of Beardsley Park along the Pequonnock by the playground and got there around 6pm.
First lure I threw in the deeper areas was that brown trout FLR-6 that I was getting the smallies on at the Naugy. Had many hits with a combination of sunnies and yellows following it. Eventually got a 7" yellow.
Then decided to switch over to that trusty glass minnow HJ-6. A retrieve I had going was 1 to 3 jerks before pausing for about 2 seconds.
Many bluegills and redbreasts were chasing it and nipping at the tail hook. Did catch 1 bluegill. Another fish I had going with that retrieve was the "Big Red Eye". Caught a total of 3. Saw all 3 of them come shooting out quickly to grab that Husky Jerk hard! One of them was a new PB trophy catch. Chubby 10" 13 ounces.

He was a fun fight on my light action setup. Pulled hard like a nice crappie or 1 pound rainbow.
Once the bite died down and bluegills and redbreasts weren't taking the rear hook like they were, I headed over to Duchess to rest and rehydrate.
Then it was time for the stripers and whites at Glenwood Park.
For about 45 minutes to an hour I stuck with the HJ-6. Didn't catch any whites this time. Caught around 10 stripers up to 13", 8" bass, and a 4" redbreast.
Never saw the bait being pushed shallow this time and not much topwater.
Once it was almost totally dark out, I hit the road. Most herons had already left before I did. Mosquitoes were thick this time too.
