Naugatuck River Seymour & Derby 8/20

Member sbehuniak09 (Stephan) and I hit the rapids after fishing a small pond and making a quick stop at Fountain Lake.
Fished the rapids and downstream by the island for no more than a half hour starting around 5pm. Stephan threw a Rooster Tail, 1/4oz spoon, and soft plastic minnows all with no luck. I tried throwing the glass minnow HJ-6, brown trout Flat Rap FLR-6, and perch FLR-6 all with no luck except for foul hooking a redbreast.
Later we went down to Derby by BJ's. That's where the HJ-6 was going to town.
Stephan started just down from the rocks and bridge while I casted underneath the bridge. Stephan landed a smallmouth with his Rooster Tail and I lost a fish with the HJ-6. Stephan also had a number of hits and a few losses right in front of him. Worked our way downstream and made a few stops until we hit a nicer area that I knew was gonna produce.
Stephan stuck with a gold Phoebe, Rooster Tail, and soft plastic minnows while I stuck with the glass minnow HJ-6. Stephan was getting a few hits while I was landing a number of whites and 1 yellow and getting lots of hits. Stephan eventually caught a white perch with his Rooster Tail. The Husky Jerk bite died so I switched over to the brown trout FLR-6 which caught me a few more whites and a schoolie.
Seeing Stephan wasn't into it with his lures like I was with the Rapalas, I let him use a perch Flat Rap FLR-6. That's when he started getting more action. He caught more white perch and a 13" schoolie.
We then hit the road around 7:40pm.
Stephan caught 1 smallmouth, 1 striper, and 4 white perch. I caught 1 striper, 1 yellow perch, and over 10 whites. One of the whites I caught was 11 1/2 inches and weighed 14 ounces, which I'm sure is a new PB.

Nice! Where abouts in Seymour were you fishing? I usually just use a phoebe myself on the naugy and catch all sorts of things.
