Looking for a kayak and need opinions
Message:
So i've fished from the shore for too long and have read and seen soooo many pictures of many of you guys on your fishing kayaks that it made me want to buy one now too! I guess my question is what kind of yak(s) do you own and what do you recommend? This would be my first kayak and its sole purpose would be to fish from it. Any specific makes/models that you would recommend? Sit in or sit-on-top?
Again im new to the whole kayak thing so any recommendations help!

I'm serious. If you search the forum for posts about fishing kayaks, the Future Beach Trophy 125 DLX is one of the best values, if not THE best value, in fishing kayaks.
Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have fun with it. Good luck! :D

Peco's got it right. Many many many people on here have future beach kayaks but i didnt have any leg room when i sat in one at the store. Its a great starter kayak but im 5'7'' right now and i just wasnt comfy with that one so i kept searching for the right kayak. If youre going to be fishing in waves like on the ocean or mostly fishing in the summer id get a sit on top kayak cause when waves get in a sit in kayak youll need to constantly empty it with a bildge or cup and during the summer the suns soo hot youd want to stay cool so the sit on tops scupper holes will allow water to come up if youre light enough and keep you a little bit wet. I prefer sit in kayaks cause i fish all year from ice on to ice out and sit ins jump make me feel safer. I have the eagle run 12 kayak made by field and stream and i love it. I do wish there was a storage in the front and i wish the back storage mold went to the bottom of the kayak instead of leaving a little gap under it cause if something slides back there.. good luck getting it while youre on the water. My dad has the Old town vapor in camo and he and i love it. Lots of leg room and storage space. Only bad thing about it is that it sits very low to the water so if there is a large wave then youre going to take on some water. But the eagle run and vapor are great kayaks. Could you give me a little bit more detail.
Price range?
Are you tall/short?
Do you carry alot of gear with you?
What seasons do you fish in?
Do you fish the ocean, lakes/ponds, rivers?
Would you need electronics like a fishfinder?
Are you a flipping/casting, dropshotting/ jigging, trolling guy?
Does you car have large roof top space?
Once you answer these ill do some looking and give you some choices. Another thing you could do if you havent fished in a kayak before is borrow someone elses kayak or rent a kayak so you can get a feel for what its like and what specs youll be looking for.
