6th annual F&S Fishing Derby United Way Fishing Derby
On September 15 th the 6th Annual F&S United Way was held at Haddam Meadows State Forest. We started out with clear skies with a small passing shower and then clear. Water temps were unseasonably warm at 73 degrees. After 10 AM it became windy which made fishing the main river a difficult task. The results are as follows:
Bass 1st place: Frankie Collini (P&W retired) 20” largemouth bass.
Northern pike 1st place: Robert Sylvia (Sponsor and owner of B&D Lures) 32” Northern Pike
Other Species 1st place: Noah Miller 8 years old (Son of Jason Miller P&W) 19 ˝” Pickerel
We would like to thank our sponsors: IAM LL 1746, Jeff Thompson, Robert Sylvia (B&D Lures), Avy Wong and Maurice Mercier. Without the help of them this derby wouldn’t be what it is today. As fisherman we raised $630.00 for the United Way. We had a great time with many folks returning year after year and bringing their friends. People leave this event with a good feeling about the United Way and their many agencies. Thanks to everyone that helped. See you next year. Tight lines.
