Private Lake & Twin Brooks 9/20
Message:
Thursday I decided to hit the private lake that produces for me a lot. Got there around 2pm and started casting where I usually start. Stuck with the traditional silver shad Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4, which is the lure that always catches the fish there. Caught a total of 3 largemouths up to 14 1/2" 1 1/2 pounds, 2 yellows, and 4 bluegills up to 8" 9oz. Had lots of hits from bluegills and yellows and missed out on a pig that tried going for one of the yellows I caught while still reeling it in. Things started slowing down so I went over to another spot that produces for me. Had lots of hits, lost a number of fish, and caught 1 bluegill. One of the fish I lost was a largemouth that looked to be 2 to 3 pounds. Lost it when it did a 2 foot back flip. Later I headed over to Twin Brooks to check a few areas out. Hit some of my usual areas and played around with a few Rapalas. At one spot I lost a dinky largemouth on a shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-7. Nothing was interested in the JSR-4. Tried throwing a custom painted Husky Jerk HJ-8 but no followers or hits. Lost what seemed to be a pickerel while doing a slow walk the dog with with a chratreuse ghost X-Rap Popper. Hit the road around 6:30pm.
