Penfield Reef 9/26
Message:
Member Cd662 (Chris) and I hit the incoming at the Reef this evening. Got there around 5:30pm when high tide was scheduled for 9:20pm.
Stayed on the Bridgeport side facing St Mary's and had 3 small passing showers. Winds were 5mph from the SW.
Sea robins were the ones in action. Chris started off and stayed with a silver Husky Jerk HJ-12. 4 lures I played around with were a croaker Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-9, purpledescent Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9, original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10, and glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-12.
Before sunset, Chris landed a total of 6 sea robins all with the HJ-12. I landed over 10 sea robins which came on all 3 Rapala plugs.
Later once it was around sunset and we made our way farther in, a fisherman using a 3" chrome black floating Creek Chub was getting many swirls and small hits. Turned out to be a school of schoolies came in looking for a meal.
Chris caught 2 with the HJ-12 and I landed 1 with the SSR-9. I lost a fish when it started to head in giving me slack. Also had a nice hit on what was either an aggressive schoolie or a blue. Not like a stiff hard hit a bigger striper would do.
Chris and I headed back to the car around 7:15pm.
Overcast skies and a few quick passing showers had me thinking stripers and hardly any blues.
