Subject:
Salmon River- Flyfishing Area
Message:
Yesterday morning I fished the fly section at Salmon River in East Hampton. There were about 10 Flyfishermen spread out from the high power lines to Browns Dam. I primarily used a size 14 caddis but also tried streamers and wooly buggers. I had a few "lookers" with the caddis but no takers on anything. In the two hours I was there I saw one fish caught on a nymph. You can see fish in the pools but they are not interested in taking flies. It seems they are in a spawning mode and chasing each other around.

I noticed that same type of activity at the tma on the saugatuck river last week. Fish jumping completely out of the water and chasing each other around. Got a few looks and not one single hit.

Yeah when they're in a spawning mode they are very difficult to entice into biting. Some things are more important than food. :D
