Catchin them Yellows 10/13
Message:
Saturday afternoon I headed up to Trumbull. First stop was one of the small ponds around 2pm. Lures I played with included custom paint red tiger Jointed J-7, shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-7, glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6, and brown trout Original Floater F-7. Nothing much was happening even though I saw a few bass, large groups of bluegills, and 1 school of yellows. Decided to play ultra light with a hot mustard muddler X-Rap XR-4. That had bluegills and pumpkinseeds going crazy chasing it but weren't being as aggressive as they usually would with hitting it. Lost a bass, caught a bass, and landed a nice chubby 10" yellow. The yellow came shooting out of nowhere and grabbed the X-Rap. Later I headed up to the private lake. Pretty soon after casting with my traditional silver shad Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4, I was into the yellows. Had a lot of yellows hit and caught around 10 total. Also caught a very chubby 9" bull. Missed out on a nice largemouth and lost a few yellows. Once things slowed down and wasn't into it like I was, I headed down to Glenwood Park. All yellows were in the 8" to 10 1/2" range and fought well on my 6' medium action setup with 8 lb mono.
