schoolie

I got out of work early Friday so I went fishing! Fished from 5:15pm-7pm. Played around with swimmers, plastics, and poppers. I caught a schoolie off a swimmer. [img:6f6f9dd8df]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=17969[/img:6f6f9dd8df] Also played with the blues with my chrome 3 1/2" popper. I know the following info isn't knew to anyone but it was pretty cool to clearly see these differences. Those two things I've noticed lately while catching big bass, small bass, and blues. I can see a distinct difference between having a blue on the line vs a bass. The blue shakes his head and makes the tip of your rod bounce up and down. Normally blues jump out of the water several times letting you know exactly the size and species way before you land the fish. The bass however I normally don't see until I get him real close. On the first keeper on Thursday I thought it was seaweed or a robin at first. The fight on these bass is very weak compared to a blue. I was shocked to see that first keeper because he didn't fight good until I was trying to land him. Also I can see a big difference between the way schoolies and keepers look. I don't even need to measure at first because the size and features are so much bigger and different when comparing the two. The size of their heads and gill plates and those red things under the keepers gills, almost make them look like different fish. Anyway, I had lots of fun fishing this week!

It's cool to be able to say "that's a keeper " without measure. Then when you get a bigger bass on and it sulks on the bottom and then the rock you just hooked shakes his head and starts ripping out line is another cool size "differentiation" you will notice.I'm not sure if that's the right word but you get the point. How did you cook the striper from the other day?

I have it filleted in the freezer. I don't keep a lot of fish, but this year when I do I bring it to a restaurant I work at and the chef cleans and filets my catch and they cook it for all the employees. I took 4 pieces home this time however. Any suggestions on how I should cook it?
