Cormorant catching more trout than me
Message:
This past weekend I was at Great Hollow fishing for trout with my daughters. Things were very slow and I didn't see anyone land a fish the whole time we were there. In fact, the fall season has been pretty slow there for me. During that time however I did see a couple of cormorants surface with trout in their mouth and proceed to swallow them down in front of us. Two separate instances, two different birds, in two different locations. I wonder how many stocked fish they actually consume. I have read they don't impact the fish population much, but they sure got more than we did that day!

All the years I've been fishing at Great Hollow, I always see those pesky birds eating away at the newly stocked trout in the spring and fall. I have also always said that they usually out do us fishermen there, unless you have a good bite going. I don't know why the fall stocked browns aren't hitting like they should be there.
