Private Lake 10/27
Message:
A local buddy introduced me to a private lake today. The place was long and narrow and had a good amount of lilies. Arrived around 12pm. Buddy threw mostly worms on a bobber which had yellows, whites, gills, and a few largemouths going. One yellow was 12" just under a pound. A few times he had bigger bass, pickerel, and a pike try and grab panfish and smaller largemouths while reeling them in near shore. I started by throwing the trusty silver shad Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4 but never got any followers or hits. Next lure was a perch Flat Rap FLR-8 which didn't get any attention. Decided to play topwater with a shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-7 which was the trick. Landed a total of 6 chain pickerel no bigger than a pound, 9" crappie, 2 bluegills, and 2 largemouths. Biggest largemouth was 15" 1 pound 12 ounces. Once we had worked most of the lake and buddy had a number of panfish in the bucket, we hit the road.
