Countryside Park - Upper Pond 01/07

Last Wednesday, I drilled a hole near the middle of my local pond and found about an inch of solid black ice under two inches of bubbly white crap ice :shock:: [img:0326f01a4e]http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/8762/img4416cropped.jpg[/img:0326f01a4e] Although I felt a little stupid being out there, I spent 15 minutes, from 11:10 am to 11:25 am, jigging an unbaited Perch Rapala Jigging Rap and a Hali-type jig baited with a White Berkley Gulp! Maggot. I jigged all the way from the bottom at 13-1/2 feet deep to just under the ice. I got nothing :cry: , but at least I didn't fall through the thin ice. :lol: Today was the first day that I was able to get back out there. I drilled three more holes, and found 1-1/2 inches of solid black ice under 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches of bubbly white crap ice. It was a sunny, warm day, and I could tell that the surface of the ice and the frozen snow on top of it were melting. I had picked up some big waxworms at Pet Smart this afternoon, so I jigged a Black/Chartreuse-Lime 1/64 ounce Flu-Flu Ice Jig baited with a waxworm. Hi Phil, Congrats on the fish -> nice colors on the perch ! thumbup I'm jealous -> Still fighting ths damn cold. Good for a couple of hours then back down I go sneezing and sniffling ! Ooooh -> My nose is so sore ! Been resorting my icefishing jigs including some I've never opened the pachages on. Stay safe and warm ! Stephen
