Hi, Me and my friend did a road trip today to Gander Moutain in Kingston, NY. We left Winsted at 9:00 AM All the lakes, ponds and water holes we passed going west on Rt. 44 and Rt.199 all had some open water areas on them. Blackberry River was running high and rolly. Got to GM and they had almost all their ice fishing gear on sale (25% - 65% off) -> We where like 2 kids let loose in a candy store :D thumbup They easily had 4-5 times more gear and tackle then Cabela's. I got 1 1/2 dozen ice jigs (normaly $2 - $3 each - brand name jigs) for .99 cents each ! We both spent $44.00 each and came away with 3 times the amount of goodies we could have gotten anywhere else :!: We had lunch at the "Halfway Dinner" in Redhook Village -> Avacado/Bacon burgers on hard roll + fried pickles [img:bccdbc99e2]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=16459[/img:bccdbc99e2] ! On way back we decided to check-out the Twins. Outside temp. read 53 F at 2:20 PM and sun shinning. Went down the "Between the Lakes Rd." and both lakes had white ice with areas of open water. Saw 2 groups of "White Swans" each paddling in both lakes. Ice, as I said, looked very white and porous. We never saw anyone in Ct. or NY on any ice ! Got back to Winsted at 4:30 PM It was a nice road trip and fun day shopping at GM ! Also it was good to finally get out after fighting a terrible cold for 9 days ! Now ... If the Wx co-operates and we get a few days of good cold temps -> I'm so ready to do some serious ice fishing ! thumbup SeaDog1
