Smaller rivers I enjoy throwing natural brown trout, natural shad, pearlescent, perch, and ghost white colors.

small rivers etc. i fish Rooster Tail's brown w' copper blade. For pike in the CT river i use big hammered spoons, long pink soft plastics, and motor oil Berkley 7" power bait worms. Baits i use meal worms either drop shotting or floating with a bobber, or I forage for small worms and when there's HELGRAMITES I load up on half a dozen and usually have bait for the day. I hook them through the skull gently and they stay on the hook forever. Further north I look for caddisfly larvae cacoons. I also love Yo-Zuri Snap Beans. I have hooked fish from 3" to 10 lbs with them. They work well in river marinas because they can do a lot in a short cast.
