what a difference a year makes
Message:
last year at this time the smallies were in pre spawn and with 2 weeks of 85 degree temps were on their way to to the beds in the water on the croton shed! i started pike fishing in the boat the 2nd week in march up in my pike spots on lilli and did well very well - i took a ride up to check it out on the falls road and the ice is solid! - not complaining just getting antsy - to my way of thinking the spring fishing last year (april & may) was the pits! - so i am hoping that a winter here in new england is just what the doctor ordered for some GREAT spring fishing!

Last year around this time I was already starting to hit a few bluegills and bass at my usual ice out pond. Then came 3/6/12 when I was able to start fishing the private pond and was hitting the jumbo perch like crazy and catching a number of 2 to 4 pound largemouths.

Drove to Newtown Bait n Tackle. Lake Zoar was frozen sold at the dam and as far as you could see.
