Newbie Question
Message:
So I have heard about good smallmouth fishing in the housatonic.
I have a 17' bass boat and was wondering where a good area to target would be? Wondering how far up the river a 17' boat would be good for? Also any other recommendations on good places to bass fish small mouth or largemouth, or even walleye. I am new to Ct and live in Norwalk, from what I've seen there are a lot of smaller bodies of water that may not be good for a 17' boat with 40Hp motor on it.
So any recommendations would be great, I plan on trying out candlewood as soon as possible.
Thanks

CT River in the Enfield area, put in at the Kings Island boat launch which is at the southern end of Enfield. It gets shallow and rocky in some areas in the late summer, but great small fishing for smallmouths.

My son has a 17' Tracker with a 50. We've hit every lake and river with a launch in CT in some wonderful weather and never had an issue. Distance is only as far as your imagination and perseverance.
Lillinhona, Candlewood, Housatonic, Zoar are all good for your boat.
