First Pig of the Year!

Headed out on the bike Tuesday and was thinking about yellow perch at the funeral home and private lake after seeing Phil's CTR report.
Started off around 3:30pm at the funeral home. Played around with a glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6, hot mustard muddler X-Rap XR-4, and silver shad Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4 but never saw any signs of yellows. Saw lots of those dinky bluegills but they wouldn't hit the XR-4 while doing the constant twitching retrieve.
Later I headed up to the private lake. Caught 1 7" yellow and a cookie cutter bass at one spot with the JSR-4 while doing a very slow retrieve. Never had any hits on the custom painted purple nurple X-Rap Shad Shallow XRSH-6 while doing the single jerk 5 second pause retrieve.
I then headed over to the area that has been producing the most for me at the private lake. Stuck with doing the very slow retrieve with the silver shad JSR-4. Landed another 3 yellow perch around 7" each and 5 more largemouths no bigger than 12" 1 pound. I then said, let me give it one more cast and try and get into the zone before I switch over to the purple nurple XRSH-6. Gave it that last cast and did the slow retrieve with the JSR-4 which led to a 20.5" 4 pounds 3 ounce largemouth!

Even though I was happy with the catch, if only it had some extra girth to it, which could make it hit 5 1/2 pounds.
After letting it go I gave the JSR-4 one more shot and switched over to the XRSH-6. Did the single jerk 5 second pause retrieve and caught a 9" yellow perch.
Hit the road just before 7pm.
