Saltwater Reel Question - Abu Garcia Revo Toro NACL
Message:
Hey all you other salt water guys, Anyone have any experience (positive or negative) with the Abu Garcia Revo Toro NACL reel? I have been reading a lot into the reel and most feedback is positive, but it did say that some salt build-up occurs that can cause issues even if the reel has been rinsed off after each saltwater outing. To me this is pretty disappointing seeing how the NACL in the name of the reel tells me it should be able to withstand the salt water especially if you are rinsing the reel off after each outing. Also, i was trying to find out where they are being manufactured. I assumed it would be made in Sweden like Abu Garcia's C3 and C4 models are manufactured, but from what i read on Cabelas.com it said they are made in China  Considering the $300 price tag i am greatly disappointed if that is indeed true. Anyways - let me know what you guys think of the reel in general.

As far as salt buildup goes, that is the case with any reel. Salt will penetrate anything that isn't completely sealed. Rinsing, drying, salt inhibitors and yearly maintenance are a must with any reel used in the NaCl. Reels advertised as saltwater aren't impervious to it's effects. They just don't rust away after the first few trips. I've never fished a Van Staal for years on end without taking care of it, but I suspect it wouldn't last a lifetime. I do fish Penns that are 50 years old and still work flawlessly. All that being said, the Abu Garcia Revo Toro NACL reel is a sweet inshore, low profile bait caster. Don't know about the manufacturing, but I've fished the reel and it is SMOOTH!

So i officially received a response back from Abu Garcia and they let me know that the Revo Toro NACL reels are made in Korea... I'm still disappointed that they arent made in Sweden like the C3 and C4 reels, but i guess its better than China. But for $300 a reel... idk
