Chunking in the CT river.
Message:
Ive been fishing the CT River (Hartford Area) for a couple years now and have never had luck with any Stripers over 30 inches. I only use sand/blood worms so im guessing thats why. I was wondering if anybody has had any luck in the past using Chunk bait (other than the mouth of the river). Im trying to beat my personal best of 30' this season so any tips would help alot. Thanks!

Also since fresh bait isnt available i always use bunker oil or herring scent on my baits. if you can snag a shad or too it wouldnt hurt for fresh bait.. BTW i chunk around the windsor locks/enfield area.

Some big stripers will be gathering in the Hartford area pretty soon. Eels at night around the bridges are also a good tactic. I'll be drifting eels before too long.
