Private Lake Pig AGAIN!
Message:
Thursday's forecast looked to be pretty nice so I headed out on my bike. Started off at the ice out pond around 1:45pm. Chickadees and robins were pretty loud this time which was a good sign. Started by throwing a glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6. Saw bluegills and bass stacked up in my usual hot spot. Tried doing the single jerk 5 second pause retrieve but they were just slowly following it. Decided to try a retrieve where I'd give it anywhere from 2 to 6 quick twitches and then pause. That had them more interested. Caught a 10" bass and lost one. Had many followers too. Eventually got the HJ-6 snagged in a branch so I switched over to a yellow perch HJ-6. That's when it started to get windier than what the NWS was predicting. The birds quieted down and there were many of those 15 and 16 mph gusts with a number of steady 8 to 10 mph winds. NWS was originally predicting winds reaching 11 mph later in the afternoon. Hit all of my usual open spots at the ice out pond with the HJ-6 to only catch a bluegill. Mother Nature seemed to cast a spell on me every time I'd stop at a spot that would usually produce. Winds would pick up when I'd get to that spot while it wasn't too windy when I was fishing a spot that didn't produce. The ice out pond is one of those small, shallow, clear water ponds that rely on light winds for good fishing. By 3:45pm I went to the private lake. Started by throwing the HJ-6 and doing that same retrieve that was working for me at the ice out pond. Had 2 bluegills follow. Then casted into where a brook feeds in and did a constant retrieve which caught a 1 pound bass. Switched over to the traditional private lake producer, the silver shad Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4. Did a slow retrieve with it. Caught a 10" bass at one spot. Next I get a hard, stiff it and set the hook. Battle is on with my light action setup and 6 pound mono. Without much line taken out, I get the fish in. 20" 4 pounds 10 ounces [img:1f2c283403]http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r614/mvsimko/20inch4pound10ounceLargemouthatThrushwood4-4-13_zpse45d27b8.jpg[/img:1f2c283403] Let it go back in the water and started casting again. Landed a 17.5" 2 1/2 pounder. No more luck after the 2 1/2 pounder, except for a chubby 8" bullgill, so I switched over to a helsinki shad Clackin Crank CNC-53. Nothing was interested in that so I switched over to a yellow perch X-Rap Shad Shallow XRSH-6 but didn't have any luck. Last stop was the deeper area where I was having more luck about 2 weeks ago. Didn't get anything there so by 6pm decided to give the funeral home pond a few tries. Threw the yellow perch HJ-6 out there and caught a dinky 6" bass. Hit the road around 6:30pm

Unless you're holding that fish 3" from the lens that looks like a 7-8 pounder lol. My god, you're killing it. Nice job!
