Water Warming Up and Fishing Getting Better
Message:
Thursday I headed down to Remington and the discharge. Arrived around 1:30pm. High tide was supposed to be 12:49pm and when I got there the wind was light out of the north. NWS was calling for winds to get stronger and gusty and turn to the east around 3pm. Conditions were pretty good for striper fishing. Skies were overcast and air was moist. Saw 2 people there already with 1 being a usual and 2 other usuals on their bike arrived around the same time as me. Stuck with the pearl grey shiner Flat Rap FLR-10 and on the third or fourth cast I set the hook. Landed a schoolie around 14". Another 5 casts later I land another around the same size. Had 1 other hit on the FLR-10 before the lip on the lure broke from hitting a rock. Switched over to an original pearl shad FLR-10. Caught 1 more schoolie around 14" before winds started getting gusty around 3:30pm. After that I had 3 more hits. Decided to call it a day around 5:15pm. Seemed like once the wind got gusty and switched to an easterly wind things quieted. Only saw 1 person land another striper which was on a sandworm. Others throwing plugs and soft plastics got 2 or 3 hits. Recently looked at the local buoy link and saw water temps stayed around 48.7 while I was into the fish.

Remington is the abandoned Remington Electric Shaver factory on the eastern edge of Seaside Park. Popular spot this time of year because of the UI warm water discharge that attracts lots of fish. Only problem is you get lots of idiot chunkers and poachers there. Saltwater areas of lower tidal rivers can be fished with a NY license. Freshwater sections of lower tidal rivers need a CT license.
