Racor filter instalation (pics)

I got to it today....finally :roll:
I ordered this filter a couple of months ago and only today I got a chance to install it.

One of the reasons I waited all this time is that I wanted to drain all the gas out of the boat tank and start with fresh fuel... and also disconnect the automatic oil injector, I hear nitemare stories about these units failing underway, causing the ultimate motor turning it to an anchor syndrome. :shock:
From now on I'll mix my gas at 50:1 ratio.
Here's the engine (I have no clue how in the heck that Corona bottle even made in my boat)

Here'a the cut up hose that used to feed oil pump, I plugged the hose with a 5/16 SS bolt.

The filter installed, I want to replace those brass plugs wit 316 SS.

what type of motor? def. a 6, but perhaps a merc 6?... I've heard the same things about their oiler, its run by a plastic gear coming off the shaft. Overtime, the gear will just randomly strip its teeth, because, well, its plastic-fantastic. Then you are... no longer oiled... 50:1 ratio, I think we went a little leaner on the oil than 50:1, but its from memory, 50:1 is def. safe... but boy we got some good smokeshows off that thing :-P
