Pequonnock Bridgeport

Hit the Pequonnock at Beardsley Park on Opening Day. First stop was the ballfields around 10:30am.
Lures I played around with included brown trout Flat Rap FLR-6, original pearl shad FLR-6, perch FLR-6, glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6, and hot mustard muddler X-Rap XR-4.
Ended up losing the brown trout and original pearl shad FLR-6. The retrieve that had the trout going was a suspending or slow rising stop and go retrieve.
Caught 3 browns, 3 rock bass, and 1 brookie. Let 1 of the browns go and kept 1 of the rock bass. Biggest trout was a chubby 14.5" 14 ounce brown and the keeper rock bass was a chubby 9" fish.
Later I headed up to the pool at the Trumbull Rd bridge. Saw a school of trout stacked up on the bottom in deeper water. Caught a rainbow with the XR-4. Tried throwing a 1" soft plastic crayfish rigged on a 1/8 ounce hot pink jighead and bounce it in front of them but they weren't interested in it. Also tried throwing a shad Shad Rap RS SRRS-4 to get down deeper and had 1 swipe. One other lure was a custom painted purple nurple X-Rap Shad Shallow XRSH-6 which had 3 hits.
Went back to the ballfields but didn't get much more attention by the fish.
Headed over to the bend and worked my way downstream. Caught a small brookie at 1 spot and saw a guy getting hit after hit and quickly get his limit on salmon eggs all in 1 area.
Worked my way along Bunnell's Pond and tried throwing garlic scented corn yellow Berkley Power Bait in a few areas with no luck before switching over to a silver shad Jointed Shad Rap JSR-4 which caught me an 11" brookie. Lost what felt like a nice sized trout or decent bass.
Worked my way all the way to the island and had 1 hit there on a shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-5.
Next stop was Wonderland of Ice. Didn't stay there for too long cause nothing was happening.
Last was the lower tidal area at Glenwood Park. Threw the glass minnow HJ-6 out there and was seeing a few breaks on the surface. Got a hit and then fish on. Reeled it in and what seemed to be a blue back herring came off right in front of me. Later before I left I started seeing more of those splashes by the herring on the surface.
Hit the road around 7:45pm.
