Mansfield Hollow 4/24

Figured with temperatures hitting the 70's today I needed to get the kayak out on the water for the first time this season. I planned on going to Mansfield Hollow in the am sometime, but got a late start. I was on the water at 2 and the sun was shining bright. There wasn't much wind and I decided to fish the big part of the lake. I went all along the left half of the lake trying to find fish. I threw spinnerbaits, JSR-04, Senko, Spoon, and a jig. I kept looking for places I might expect to find fish and every time I got to them I was disappointed. The only fish i saw all day were 3 large schools of sunnies. I got a few nibbles on the Senko but not much more to report. I got off the water at 5:30 after a nice, but frustrating day. Through the course of the day there were a lot op people fishing the shoreline near the boat launch, but I don't think anyone caught anything. I think I've just about had it with Mansfield Hollow. I've fished it 5 times now and got 2 bass one time. I don't know where they hide, and I think I've spent enough time floating around searching. I'll be trying out the Bolton Lakes next time I head out I think.

I went to Mansfield Hollow once and vowed to never go back again lol. I didn't really feel that place one bit. It seemed there were more dead fish on the shore than in the actual water.

There are three spots where I've found largemouth bass in the upper part of Mansfield Hollow: the culvert where the Fenton River enters it in the northwest corner; a submerged stump near the northeast corner; and the little island on the west shore.
