Monday evening my dad and I got together and fished the outgoing along the sandbar and sandy flats at Remington. Arrived between 6:45pm and 7pm with low tide scheduled for 9:09pm. Winds were a light SE wind, sky was overcast, and the air was cool and sticky. My dad tried throwing a chartreuse pencil popper, white bucktail, and a few shallow plugs but never got any swirls or hits. Lures I threw included pearl grey shiner Flat Rap FLR-16, chrome spotted minnow Max Rap MXR-17, chrome Flat Rap FLR-16, chrome purple black Max Rap MXR-15, fire chartreuse Saltwater Skitter Pop SSP-12, and original shad Super Shad Rap SSR-14. I had 2 hits and 4 swirls. 1 hit came on the pearl grey shiner FLR-16 and the other on the chrome spotted minnow Max Rap MXR-17. All 3 swirls in front of me were when I took the MXR-17 out of the water. 3 other wading surf fishermen came around sunset and threw topwaters and plugs but never got a single hit or swirl. My dad and I called it a night around 8:30pm. Once again, the big bunker started breaking on the surface around 7pm and got more active after sunset. This was my dad's first time fishing the sandbar and sandy flats near the Remington factory. He said he like the layout and would def consider the spot again.
