Pequnnock River Trumbull
Message:
Thursday after an afternoon doctor appointment, I headed over to the Pequonnock in Trumbull. Arrived at the destination around 4:15pm and worked it til 7:30pm.
Rapalas I played around with included hot mustard muddler X-Rap XR-4, glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6, yellow perch HJ-6, and glass pink clown HJ-6.
Brookies were the aggressive ones going crazy for the yellow perch HJ-6. Landed 2 average stockies and also got 1 rainbow. The bite died on the yellow perch HJ-6 and switched over to the glass pink clown HJ-6. The trout weren't too interested in that even though I still landed 2 rainbows.
The Rapala bite eventually died so I switched over to a weightless 1" soft plastic crayfish rigged with a trout hook. Twitched it across the surface and had a number of swirls and explosions. Landed 3 rainbows.
Later 2 fishermen arrived and saw 1 of them was hitting bigger bows and brookies like crazy on Power Bait. I wasn't getting into the action I had anymore. The man was nice enough to give me the last bit of Power Bait he still had which landed me another 2 rainbows. Got to exchange cell with him.
Went home with my limit around 7:30pm.
