Halls Pond 5/3

I had been itching to get since opening day so when my buddy called and said he had friday off, I jumped at the chance. We got out pretty early, around 6:30 AM with hopes of catching some morning feeding action. We did not. For the first few hours I caught one that may have been 1.5-2lbs but it spit the baid 3 feet from the boat. I must have hit that one on the head because nothing else seemed interested, aside from my buddy catching a couple pickerel when trolling his lure as we moved from spot to spot. We fought the wind all day. Finally, around noon my friend hooked a small largie I followed a few minutes later. Shortly after that, my friend landed the days best, a largie probably 3-3.5lbs. (we didn't bother with the scale) At that point we were out of beverages and my girlfriend was sending me those lovely "When do you think you'll be home?" texts, so we called it a day. I was a little disappointed with the day at first but I guess I shouldn't have expected so much from a spring outing. I'm not very experienced in early season bass fishing either, so maybe I was doing something wrong. Anyone have any tips?
