Lower Bolton 5/6

I didn't get any fishing in on the weekend so I decided that it was about time to go again. I headed to Lower Bolton Lake around 7, and at my spot it was only me and some nice middle aged guy who told me he caught a 4 pound bass 20 minutes earlier. Then, on my second cast, I let the bait sink, reeled in the slack, and had just put my rod down when it immediately doubled over and started bouncing like crazy. I set the hook and a pretty good fight ensued. It was a channel cat that weighed exactly 2 pounds, and was about 20 inches long. Not huge, but the biggest of the year so far for me!

In the next hour and a half, I didn't get any more action from the channel catfish. Many of them must have been in the traps that were set up to gauge their population in the lake. I did catch 3 yellow bullhead, however. Not a bad day!

Lower Bolton has been my most productive spot this season
Having a good bit of fun there
