Had to leave them bitting

So last night I hit up a couple spots with a buddy on the CT river that are usually good after a good rain. Got to spot 1 right at sunset and I was throwing a yellow/white pencil. Third or fourth cast had a skinny 32" come up and whack it and was happy to finally get rid of the skunk. The water was pretty low and there wasn't much current so i decided to travel over to spot 2.
Got there around 9 ish and first cast hooked up to a decent fish on a blurple bomber that later popped off the hook. This spot had a stronger current and the bite was on!
Stopped getting hits on the bomber so i switched over to my favorite lure that i use in fast water, a Bliz Slammer in natural herring pattern. It's really sad that they stopped production with this plug cuz it can really be a slayer in a good current.
First cast with the slammer i hooked up to another decent fish that ended up going 34" and this is where the night went south... When i got the fish to the bank I pulled a real googan move and stuck my thumb in mouth to lip her and ended up with a 3/0 trebble in my thumb. At that point I knew I was gona have to go to the hospital to get it out. So I was trying to unhook the fish that was still attached to my line and thumb and she started thrashing around again and the hook came ripping out of my thumb sideways leaving a nice gash in my thum. LOL, there was so much blood dripping on the fish that it looked like I had ripped the gills out.
That kinda freaked me out a bit and I said to my friend that it was time to make the trip to Middlesex. Ended up getting 5 stitches and a tetnis shot and belive me, it was more painful leaving the fish bitting than having that hook rip out of my thumb. Hope to get out there again this weekend and make the most out of the spring run while they're still in our backyard.

Been there 2 years ago when I had a 39" bury a Northbar treble all the way into my palm and like yours it was thrashing on the bank. Finally after 15 minutes I just tore the treble out of my palm but no way in hell did I leave. Continued to get fish for about an hour and went home and Super glued my palm back together.

I had a fish bury a hook in my waders today. Had a wet walk back! That looks painful!
