Lure fishing for stripers in the CTR
Message:
I have always fished bait for stripers but after hearing you guys talk I really want to catch one on a lure. Question is what do I use. What lures are good, when are they good, where are they best used, how do you fish them, the more info the better, I am a newbie as lure fishing for big fish. :) Thanks!!!

I would suggest a rapala skitter pop, pencil poppers or Zara spooks for top water. Lloyd's lures has get lures. I would also try his. Reaction strike makes good products as well in swimbaits. When working the top water lures have to figure out what they want. Some times they want a real face retrieve sometimes a slow retrieve and some times a retrieve with a pause. You could also us slugos houdinis there are a ton of things to use. Danny swimmers. But I'm going to suggest using Lloyd's lures. Also looks like white top water is the ticket this year

I bet LloydsLures might have a few suggestions! Gotta say, he makes some nice looking stuff that also seems to hook fish pretty well. Some soft plastics like sluggos, Hogy's etc. are also good to have in the arsenal. I much prefer fishing lures over the sit and soak method. Half the fun is hooking up!
