Early AM 5/26

After staying in and napping during the miserable weather on Saturday, I kept an eye on the NWS marine forecast for Bridgeport Harbor and the local radar. Once I saw the rain was gone and winds were calming down, I headed down to the sandbar. Arrived around 4:30am Sunday with the Daiwa Procyon Penn Sargus setup. Low tide for Bridgeport was scheduled for 6:52am. Lures I played with included original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10, pearl grey shiner FLR-10, glass ghost Clackin Minnow CNM-11, moss back shiner CNM-9, chrome Skitter Pop SP-9, blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10, 4" Berkley Havoc Subwoofer, and flake purple ghost Max Rap MXR-11. Got a chubby 14" schoolie on the pearl grey shiner FLR-10 and caught a sea robin with the CNM-11. Had what seemed to be a porgy hit on the CNM-11 during a pause. Felt similar to a curios sunny pecking at a small jerkbait. or soft plastic. Saw a few surf fishermen come and throw pencils, soft plastics, bucktails, and SP Minnows. One caught a sea robin on a soft plastic. Only sign of life I saw was birds working Pleasure Beach. Hit the road around 9am once winds got gusty again.

id venture to say that small tap was a fluke as they are in good numbers along the shoreline so far. where as porgies are mostly on the wrecks still

Looking forward to landing my first fluke of the year now that I've caught a bluefish, 2 sea robins, 6 weakfish, and lots of stripers. Clackin Minnows have been good for fluke since I first started using them for surf fishing last year.
