Batterson Park Pond 6/1 bassin'
Message:
Got out to Batterson this morning at 8 am with little humidity, temp was at 75 and I only saw one other boat on the water, sweet :) Worked area left of the boat launch along the shore headed toward the beach. Wind gusts made it annoying at times with my 12' tin boat but def was nice with the humidity creeping in.
Around 8:45 my girlfriend started in on some nice yellow perch action just after the first point around 7' depth. 3 perch (9 inch best) and 1 really nice but small pumpkinseed later for her and nothing for me we trolled along some more and anchored in a nice cove half shaded around 9:15. She started working one side with a weightless Berkley crawler (the ones you SWEAR look real). Myself I decided on the same but with a gold spinner attachment.
Tap tap and I'm hooked up 10 minutes later along the weed line close to shore in I would say about 3' depth of water. Hook set felt real nice and kept this dude down as best I could, 15' from the boat he shows me his tail and I shit you not I had flashbacks of humpback whale watch tours! The tail was big by my standards needless to say. Finally get him close enough to net him and no lie he almost doesn't fit my net HAHA! Get him on the boat measured and weighed, 23 1/8" long and 4.5/4.6 lbs for a new personal best LMB. Posed for a quick pic, gave him a jimmy Houston smooch and let him swim away. Worked the bank some more up to the beach, 9" rock bass among the best with a few more brilliantly colored pumpkinseeds mixed in. Headed back to the launch around 10:45/11:00 and called it a day, grabbed some beers, steak, GO BRUINS![img:e7e6e87a6f]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=20590[/img:e7e6e87a6f]

Nice but I would use a thumb and index finger instead of needle nose pliers. They don't bite and the pict takes away from the whole story line. Congrats but disappointed in the handling.

I figured that would come up and I can assure you I wish I could but I actually only have one thumb left (logging accident) so I'm a bit protective of the one I got left lol, alternatives to needle nose are welcomed. Kinda weird backstory I know but I mean no harm to the fish I swear.
