Skunk off the new rod
Message:
Picked up a 9 foot medium action Tica from Cabela's last week. I was only able to get on the Housatonic for about an hour last week and, of course, I had the new rod curse.
Went out this morning in the wee hours (5:30), up by the dam. I was throwing everything - swimmers, poppers, sluggod, bucktails - nada for three hours. About 8:30 I get a solid hit on a buckytail/sluggo combo but lost him pretty quick. About fifteen minutes later, on my second to last cast, I get a nice hit and manage to reel this one in. 31 inches, no monster by any means, but at least the skunk is off the rod.

Must of felt nice to at least land 1 fish with your new rod and test the action and feeling of it
