Shark fishing
Message:
So I've gathered a small group of talented anglers for 4th of july weekend to try our hands at shark fishing from shore with the new moon close by.. Gotta 5 gallon bucket full of chum. Fish guts, squid guts, pretty much the scraps and blood from most of the fish we've gotten over recent weeks. We have our general area picked out, specifc spot still undetermined. Plan to start chumming a little bit before high tide and to get our lines in the water at about high tide. As far as gear goes, i think we're probably gonna run 90lb or 135lb steel leader, 12/0 hooks, and either large chunks of bluefish or fresh dead oversized eels for bait. Anyone who's specifically targeted sharks from shore before, any suggestions?

On the television show River Monsters, the host, Jeremy Wade, suggested that you tie yourself off so you don't get dragged into the water. Good luck!

good luck with that!and DEFINITELY keep us posted!
from my research.... that 90lbs steel leader is a little suspect...unless.. you guys are going after 3ft tiger sharks in a certain "EAST" location in a certain state... chumming and "dead over size eels"
here's a link to the "jersey boys".it's a good start..it might help

i spent the last six months researching shark fishing from the jersey shore.i have all the gear, locations picked out, visited a few bait shops and spoken to a few atlantic city fishermen
FYI: HARRAH'S CASINO has a safe, well lit public pier that i was told is great for night time shark fishing :o :o..... you guys might want to look into that.
i saw the pier wednesday and was planning on driving down next weekend to check out the night action :) :)
also saw about 20+ guys surf fishing(midday wednesday) across the bay in BRIGANTINE.i was told by the AC regulars that some of those guys were targeting daytime sharks.
im hoping to cut travel time in half(like you guys did) and find a few "RIGHT" spots as close as ASBURY PARK or LONG BEACH
