First Timer, looking for starter spots and gear advice
Message:
Been fresh water fishing since I could walk, but now looking to cast a line into the big blue. A friend and me plan on taking a trip do stripper and fluke fishing from the shore.
What are some good starter spots (we will travel anywhere in CT), what type of gear, rigs and baits do u recommend?
Are all beaches fishable?

Some good starter spots that are easily accessible in the areas where I fish are the DEEP marine headquarters in Old Lyme, Saybrook Point near the Dock and Dine in Old Saybrook, and one of my favorites.. between the bridges in Niantic.
The first two spots are real good for chunkin and in Niantic you have many options. You could fish bait on the outside of the RR bridge along the beach (not recommended to fish bait between the bridges because of current and alot of bottom obstructions) and use soft plastics on jig heads to get to the fish on the bottom in the channel.
Hope this helps...Good luck and have fun!!
