minkota foot padel

i have a minkota 40 with a foot pedal i've tryed it a few time and finding the pedal is on the hard side to press when turning the prop, press it alittle and then it goes down all the way causeing the prop to spin around,
i don't get any controll from it. is there an ajustment for the pedal movment to make it smooth and ezy?

My Minkota Edge and All Terrain have a cable tension adjustment located just in front of the pedal where the cables enter the plastic tubing.
