Whew!!!What a hot one today. I arrived at 5:30 and dropped my motor in and headed up the old river channel trolling a fire tiger scatter minnow.[img:ca80d07431]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=21101[/img:ca80d07431]
It was beautiful this morning.[img:ca80d07431]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=21103[/img:ca80d07431]
Without getting a single wack as i headed into the back section i decided to reel up and head into the cove on the Northeastern shore to see if i could find any pond shiners. After about an hour i managed 6 big shiners and tossed back about 4 sunfish.(all caught on corn kernels.)[img:ca80d07431]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=21105[/img:ca80d07431]
I then headed straight out to the stumps in the far north end.
As i made my first cast i thought my shiner was too big for the bobber.
As soon as it hit the water it disappeared! I tightened the slack only to feel a HEAVY TUG.I saw it!! A Big bass.
Then as it came to the side of the kayak.Down it went, right into a tangle of roots.I felt it snag on them and could feel the fish still tugging..
After 15 min or so i worked the snag free by hand.A tired bass slipped back up through the roots and right into my net. 21.5 inches. and weighed 5.9 lbs on my scale
What a beautiful looking fish.[img:ca80d07431]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=21109[/img:ca80d07431]
After working around the stumps with no more action i moved into the northwestern cove and found that this guy wanted my pond shiners as well I luckily had my long pliers and was able to unhook him.[img:ca80d07431]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=21115[/img:ca80d07431][img:ca80d07431]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=21113[/img:ca80d07431]
It was now around 1:00 pm and HOT! I trolled back to the launch and picked up 2 small yellow perch.
Also saw 1 baby pike literally 3inches and as wide as a pencil.I thought...WOW that means they are breeding with little problems here.
