New member with some questions about carp fishing

Hi, new member here and want to try going out for carp for my first time soon, I was wondering if anyone had tips on which bait to use and some good spots possibly on the Thames river. From what I've read its sounding like just simple bread will suffice but any suggestions would be welcome, thank you.

Just jumped in and saw your post. Not an expert but I took my son Carp fishing often a while back and we experimented a bit. Definitely start with a base of bread. I also added in cereals and or oatmeal. I then added sugar syrup or molasses to bring it into a ball. Add water too to get the right consistency. ..there are also scents from tackle shops you could try...I fish Candlewood a lot and there are a handful of polish specialists and they bang the carp on corn. Not sure if it is old and stinky or fresh but they do well..I have tried to ask them how they do but they do not speak English.......One thing to try is chumming. May be hard in moving water. But in the lakes we would run a line of chum out along the shore to our baited hooks. Lead them to the spot you are in. It sometimes took time but when the carp found our line and fed into our area the action was fast and furious. My son has great memories of our carp fishing........But as I said I am a carp novice so hopefully someone else with more expertise can offer something better....Good Luck!

Quick oats, cream corn and whole corn. All into a bucket for chum. Get the right consostency by adding water or more oats. Roll em into balls and launch em out where you're casting. Short rig, strong small hook. Size 4 or 6, sinker slide above that. Helps to mold the mix around your weight and lob the whole thing out. Doesn't work well for distance fishing. Sweet corn from a can on the hook or bread balls outta white bread. This is as basic as it gets. I could write pages and still not explain everything. I'm postin a link to our spring recap video.
