After getting my bike back Friday morning, I decided to hit the 2:45pm low at the Remington Sandbar after not being there for 2 weeks or so. Setup was a 7' MH Daiwa Procyon/Penn Fierce 2000 Power Pro 10lb braid. Low tide was predicted to be one of those pretty high ones due to the moon phase.
Got down there around 12:45pm and fished for about 2 hours. Conditions were mostly sunny skies, dry air, air temps in the lower 80s, and steady 5 to 10mph sw winds with many gusts from 15 to 20. Bridgeport Harbor buoy read surface temps ranging from 78 to 82 while I was out there.
Lures I threw included glass ghost Clackin Minnow CNM-11, smelt BX Minnow BXM-10, original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10, silver shad Jointed Shallow Shad Rap JSSR-, blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10, Storm Jointed Minnow Stick, flake blue Max Rap MXR-13, and shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9. Other than steady retrieve with the SXR-10 and CNM-11, also tried jerk and pause slashbait retrieves.
Never got a single hit, follower, or swirl on the surface. Only signs of life I saw were snappers jumping and skipping, 1 cormorant feasting on the snappers, and a few gulls circling the harbor entrance for a while. I was the only one out there most of the time before 2 people came just for the snappers not long before I left.
Low tide was very high making access difficult.

I went to 2 different spots on 3 occasions this weekend and got skunked. 2 of them were at 2- 6 in the morning throwing live eels and never got a hit! The other time was today in the afternoon throwing both top water and swimmers and again no hits. WTF, last weekend I did pretty good, Mostly blues at night and big ones with a few stripers during the week, nothing crazy but not bad for summer nights from shore. 1 of those blues I belly hooked in a channel and it was a huge blue and it freakin bent my 2-6 ounce rod over reallllllly good and tore line out like it was a trout pole with a Salmon on it!
