Slow Bite
Message:
After Bunnells Pond I headed down to the Wonderland of Ice to fish the Pequonnock.
Hit 2 usual productive stretches of water. Lures were brook trout X-Rap XR-4, yellow perch Husky Jerk HJ-6, glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6, and hot steel Original Floater F-5.
Missed a bass withe the YP HJ-6 and had a few sunnies follow the XR-4 and HJ-6. Was surprised to not see redbreasts being aggressive.
Next stop was the lower tidal area at Glenwood Park to have fun with the baby stripers. Constant jerking with the XR-4, YP HJ-6, GM HJ-6, and a perch XR-6 was the presentation.
I was very surprised with the bite. Only landed 5 and 1 small white perch, which isn't like the days I've had at the beginning of August. Bait seemed to be the issue. Wasn't smelling any bait, black crowned night herons never came, and wasn't seeing or hearing any breaks on the surface.
Hit the road just after sunset.
