Striped Bass @ Weekapaug, RI 8/21-8/25

Some of the many bass boated over the course of my end of summer vacation at the Weekapaug Breachway. We got 20 or so trolling home-made tube rigs during the day in the breachway, mostly shorts but for one 30"er. Had another one on that was huge, snapped the Roberts rod holder in half :roll: barely saved the pole but lost the fish. DONT buy these junk holders haha. Anyways ... caught a bunch more shorts at night with a husky jerk from shore, my mom snuck a 30"er out of a school of bluefish in front of Watch Hill with the same lure. We got three more keepers trolling live eels in the breachway at night (short trips, one per night 8) . Got a boatload of bluefish which were daily brined and smoked (still brining and smoking :) ) I also caught and smoked a few jumbo porgy and a fat seabass. A few fluke were taken home as well, the largest over 20". Oh yeah and I can't forget the mountain of clams pulled from the breachway as well. Making another clam pizza tomorrow!!! Smoked bluefish patè for week!!!
