Crappie bite turned back on at Zoar
Message:
I hit the docks last night and again early this morning for some crappie jigging. Things seemed to have finally picked up after a fairly dead summer in the shallow water areas. Cooler temps have the fish active and moving up from deeper water. Both night and morning were quite productive. It took some hunting around and moving from finger dock to finer dock but when I was on the fish it was easy to pull 10-12 out of the area. Nothing really big, most ranged in the 6-10 inch range. 1/16 and 1/8 oz #4 sickle hook jigs in 8-15 fow were all I was throwing. Pink & chartreuse crappie magnets and translucent silver flake slab bandits were working well. I did notice that adding chartreuse flake Berkley crappie nibbles really seemed to help. I picked up several small bass as well, especially last night, all small guys but still fun on a 4lb ultralight rig. Sunrise, steam rising off the lake, sipping coffee on the dock, nabbing some crappie is a nice way to spend the morning. Allman Bros at Jones Beach tonight watching the sunset will wrap it up nicely!

It's funny how Zoar shuts down during the summer months. I always do well in early spring and fall.
