Conch pot ideas

Hello, I am building new conch traps to fish in long island sound. Im a lobsterman in maine and have seen similar traps work in maine waters but was looking for ideas from local conchers. What i have is plastic baait barrels cut into 10" pots with lobster trap wire on the bottom with bricks. On top thin ring of net to keep conchs in. Ive fished wood traps in the sound before, they work well but i think these will last longer just unsure of how they mite fish... Any ideas and or expiriences would help! Thanks! Will post pics if i can figure out how.
