Pogie

While fishing Saturday, I saw 2 young men throwing small pieces of bait. Fish they were catching they call pogie.
Tried researching on Google but kept on finding pics of bunker and porgy.
The fish was the shape of a cod and had a bonito type of pattern on its rear. The face and mouth was something like a shark or redfish.
Color was a silver grey, starting white along the bottom and ending black at the top.

How big where the fish?
They were probably northern kingfish, lots of them being caught around the Milford area this year.

Pogie is New England talk for a bunker. Does sound like a kingfish....FFLD CTY does not know it is not in NY...
