Action Picking Up

Wednesday's high tide for Black Rock Harbor was 3:01pm and arrived at the Fayerweather jetty just before 2pm. Winds were a steady 10 mph out of the east with waters very choppy between Bridgeport Harbor and the Fayerweather jetty. Water levels were very high too. Lures I tried playing with included tennessee olive shad Clackin Minnow CNM-9, blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10, silver blue X-Rap Shad Shallow XRSH-8, silver blue Skitter Pop SP-9, purpledescent Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9, blue back herring Long Cast Minnow LC-12, and pearl grey shiner Flat Rap FLR-10. Lost what felt like either a sea robin or small schoolie on the CNM-9. Then when the tide started turning, bunker showed up in pods on the surface. Didn't see much splashing though. Tried throwing a number of lures from SP-9 to a bigger Max Rap MXR-15. Had 1 small explosion on the SP-9 in front of me by what seemed to be a schoolie. Eventually caught a 16" schoolie with the CNM-9 before the bunker disappeared. Once it was almost sunset I headed over to Remington, which is where I caught a sea robin and an aggressive chubby 15" schoolie with the CNM-9. Hit the road just after 7pm I'm seeing signs of action picking up now. Another thing I'm thinking is gonna happen is this low pressure heading our way is gonna be a system that has more to do with the coastal waters. Then a cold front will sweep through with calmer weather and colder temps behind. All of that will cool water temps and turn the bite on kinda like what happened last year after Sandy. Bridgeport Harbor buoy has been reading water surface temps ranging from 67 to 69.
