Rapala Evening

Arrived at the city boat ramp just before 2:30pm Monday with high tide scheduled for 7:13pm. Winds were a steady 10 mph south west with gusts from 15 to 25 mph. Tried throwing the FLR-10 out there but never got a hit. Went out to the rocky areas around Fayerweather Island and threw the SP-9 but never a swirl. Made my way back over to the city boat ramp by 4:30pm and pretty soon got into a bite with the FLR-10. As the evening went on, 4 surfcasters arrived. All 4 of them never got a single swirl or explosion on topwaters. I let 1 of them throw one of my smaller plugs seeing he only brought topwater. He chose the blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10. Once he threw that out there he was into the schoolies. The other guys brought smaller plugs and crankbaits but the only one who was into a good bite was throwing a flake blue Max Rap MXR-13. I eventually landed 4 schoolies and a 20.5" 3 pound 10 ounce tailor with the FLR-10. Had a few hits and lost 1 with the shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9. Once there was hardly any sunlight left the bite died. Hit the road around 6:30pm.
